Inside CompareHaus

How We Research

Every specification on CompareHaus comes from a document we can point you to. Here is how one gets onto the site.

1. We start from the manufacturer

We use the manufacturer’s own product page, specification sheet or assembly manual first. For a store brand sold by only one retailer, we use that retailer’s product page. We do not use marketplace listings, user reviews or other comparison sites as sources.

2. We record the exact words

For each specification we keep the source, where in the document it appears, and a short quote of the exact words. Units stay as the source states them, and we convert only for display. A load rating keeps the conditions the manufacturer attaches to it, such as “weight must be evenly distributed”. Per-shelf and total load ratings are kept apart and never mixed up.

3. We use AI to help, and we check its work

We use AI tools to find specifications in long documents and record them with their quotes. That output is only a candidate. A separate pass then opens each source again and compares it with every candidate. Anything that does not match the source word for word, or that was inferred rather than stated, is flagged.

4. A person approves what is shown

A person reviews the candidates and the recheck before anything is shown as a fact. Flagged values are rejected. When two sources from the same manufacturer disagree, for example a product page and its manual, a person decides which one the evidence supports and records why. Until then, the value is not shown as a fact.

5. Gaps stay gaps

If no source states a specification, the page says “Not listed”. We never fill a gap with an average, a calculation or a guess.

What we have not done

We have not bought or tested these products. Our comparisons report what manufacturers state. For anything that affects safety, such as load ratings and wall anchoring, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your unit.
