Inside CompareHaus
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what CompareHaus (comparehaus.com) collects when you use the site, and why. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we do not do
- No accounts or sign-ups for visitors, and no comment forms.
- No advertising or tracking scripts on our pages. The one exception is Google Analytics, and it runs only if you accept it (see below).
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
What we collect
- Retailer link clicks. When you click a retailer link we count it: which link, which page (without any query string) and the date. To stop automated floods we briefly keep a scrambled code made from your IP address, for about two minutes, and then discard it. It is never stored with the click count. We check your browser’s user agent only to leave obvious bots out of the count, and we do not store it.
- Searches and tool use. We count the words searched on our site and how our tools are used, per day, with no link to you. Search terms that look personal, such as email addresses, long numbers or web addresses, are dropped.
- Your country choice. If you choose the United States or Canada, we save that choice in a cookie named
ch_marketfor up to one year, so the site shows your units and retailers. It holds only the country code. - Visit statistics, only if you accept. A banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics. If you click Accept, Google Analytics sets cookies (named
_gaand_ga_followed by an ID) for up to two years and counts pages viewed, how you arrived, scrolling, clicks on links that leave the site, searches on the site, your general location, device and browser. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off, and Google does not store full IP addresses. If you click Decline, or do nothing, no Google script loads and no analytics cookie is set. We save your answer in a cookie namedch_consentfor 180 days. - Email. If you email us, we receive your address and message and use them only to reply. Mail to [email protected] is delivered through Cloudflare Email Routing to our mailbox, which is hosted by Google.
Services that handle requests to this site
- Cloudflare protects and speeds up the site. It processes your IP address and request details to do that, and may set a short-lived security cookie.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) receives the statistics above, only after you accept. Its own privacy policy applies to that data.
- Hostinger hosts the site. Like any web server, it keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses, for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
When you follow a link to a retailer, that retailer’s own privacy policy applies on their site.
Your choices
You can change your analytics choice at any time with the cookie settings link; choosing Decline removes the analytics cookies. You can also delete or block the ch_market and ch_consent cookies in your browser; the site still works without them. To ask about any information we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email [email protected].
Changes
If what we collect changes, we will update this page before it happens.
